MARINE BIOLOGY PROGRAM
Our MARINE BIOLOGY PROGRAM in Tenerife focuses on understanding the marine environment, combining marine biology lessons and enhanced underwater sampling through diving. We have a day-by-day calendar with a variety of activities and training sessions to participate in our ongoing projects. You will carry out fieldwork and sampling in different marine environments, using various scientific methodologies, always accompanied by a marine biologist and/or PADI professional instructor.
We provide participants with hands-on, real-world experience that complements their academic knowledge. Working in the field and conducting research in marine environments will help them apply theoretical concepts to real-world situations.
The idea is to offer you a complete experience in Marine Biology, from marine organisms and their ecosystem to underwater sampling and the analysis of data acquired through diving. The field of marine biology encompasses topics such as marine ecology, conservation, marine organisms, marine sampling through underwater activity, data analysis through statistical platforms, and more. With us, you can also get PADI scuba certification or continue your scuba diving education. Our growing database is always available for those who are thinking of writing an academic/scientific paper.
The total duration of the program is a minimum of 4 weeks, extendable up to 4 months.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Our Marine Biology Program lasts one month with the possibility of extending up to four consecutive months and is designed for both experienced and inexperienced divers. It is an adventure full of learning, laughter, and different fieldwork where the intern will learn the basic concepts of marine biology, marine conservation and diving.
Theoretical lessons are essential to carry out a research project in the best possible way; from explaining marine sampling methods to the biology of marine invertebrates, sea turtles and fish resident in the Atlantic Ocean to observing data and writing manuscripts. Within a month, interns will have acquired the knowledge and skills to collect various data using underwater marine sampling.
This program is designed for those who want to learn to dive in complete safety and for those who are already divers but want to deepen their underwater analysis and sampling skills.
WHERE?
See you diving is located in Los Cristianos, on the island of Tenerife (Spain), just a short walk from Las Vistas beach and the port of Los Cristianos. The center is equipped with new Cressi diving equipment, a wet area, a compressor for refilling tanks, a relaxation area and a classroom where presentations are made and the data collected is analyzed. Theoretical classes, manuscript writing and data analysis activities will be carried out here, as well as the preparation of underwater activities.
ABADES, SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE
During your days here we will make several dives in some of the most beautiful places in the south of Tenerife.
Underwater sampling will be carried out at the Abades dive site, a marine reserve where boats and motorboats cannot pass, making this place unique and full of marine life.
Here we will carry out an in-depth analysis of the ecosystem created by the phanerogams, the lungs of our seas and the different communities that populate the rocky bottoms.
Through the execution of vertical and horizontal transects, combined with photographs and basic knowledge provided during the face-to-face lessons, you will be able to acquire and process the data.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Our marine biology program is designed to teach young biologists and aspiring divers the basics of marine biology through classes, scuba diving, and reviewing data acquired during sampling. We have two main courses: seagrass and hard-bottomed community.
