Scuba Diving & Underwater Sampling

Your Role and Responsibilities in the Program

As a marine biology intern in Santa Cruz De Tenerife, your mission is to collect data in the field using different underwater equipment and methods for sampling rocky bottoms and seagrasses. You will have the opportunity to graphically and statistically analyze the data acquired during the dive, and you will be provided with support in the writing of your personal scientific manuscript.


You'll be able to gain valuable skills and knowledge in a variety of subtopics. You will have the opportunity to write a thesis or scientific publications and increase your skills in the marine conservation sector. They will follow you step by step, from lessons to scuba diving.

 

Students, recent graduates and researchers are advised to seek funding at their universities by contacting their universities' International/Placement/Erasmus+ offices or other scholarship providers.

Weekly Schedule

  • Week 1: Buoyancy dive, underwater sampling, marine biology lessons, rock substrate sampling, and more.
  • Week 2: Shore dives in Abades, plankton collections and analysis, introduction to rocky bottom communities.
  • Week 3: Boat dive, shore dives, night dive,  and writing of the scientific manuscript.
  • Week 4: Abades Dives, questions and clarifications, and completion of the scientific manuscript.
